Melissa has spent the past 11 years with the Flight Centre family holding various senior leadership roles across Account Management, Operations and Sales, working with both national and multi-national customers. Prior to joining Flight Centre Travel Group, Melissa spent 10 years with Qantas in multiple sales roles.
During her career, Melissa has led her teams to enormous success through inspiration, powerful vision and a genuine care for her people. She has received numerous awards for business profit and improvement and in 2015 and 2016 she was awarded the Executive General Manager Outstanding Achievement Award for breaking global sales records.
Melissa is passionate about growing and developing rising talent and as a mother of two children, is an advocate for workplace flexibility.
With so much leadership experience we asked Mel:
I have made a point of targeting my high potential female senior leaders. We have embarked on some mentoring sessions with some of them participating in the Goddess in the Boardroom four day course. Given I got so much from this myself, I think it's great that we can all work from the same song sheet and improve their overall confidence and strength in their roles.
I rally my female senior leaders (down to TL level) with motivational emails and phone check-ins but I need to do something more formal beyond my immediate SWOT team. I’d love to start thinking about this for deployment in the new year and would love to see this evolve into a national business.
